Degussa AJ (Shanghai) Initiators Co., Ltd. was formally established in December 2002 when Degussa (China) Holdings took a majority 70% share in the former Shanghai AJ Reagent Works.Shanghai AJ Reagent Works was established in 1982 & has grown to be the major persulphate producer.
In China relocating to the current manufacturing premises in Baoshan District , 28km north of Shanghai, in 1998.
Persulfates are used widely in the electronics industry & as polymerisation initiators in the plastics sector where their use complements the well- established range of Degussa organic peroxide initiators also supplied to this sector.
In taking the majority share, Degussa has consolidated its position as the world's largest Persulfates producer with manufacturing operations established in two continents.

Degussa AJ has implemented ISO9001:2000 quality management system, and secured SAC, RVA and RAB certification in August 2002.

As an already well established supplier of Persulfates to global markets, with exports to over 30 countries across 5 continents, Degussa-AJ Shanghai is recognized for its high & consistent quality products by many multi-national companies. The integration of Degussa-AJ Shanghai into the global business of the Business Unit Exclusive Synthesis & Catalysts is part of the strategy of expanding the BU activities into the Asian region with particular emphasis on China.
